My Me/N Shutdown Build - I need experienced help
Mesmer/Necromancer
Domination - 12+4
Inspiration - 8
Fast Casting - 7+3
Blood Magic - 8
1. Backfire
2. Soul Leech
3. Mark of Subversion
4. Empathy
5. Blackout
6. Energy Tap
7. Ether Lord
8. Energy Burn
Now I need an evalution of the build; what's good, what's bad, and how I can fix it.
First off I can see some serious energy problems so I tried putting some points into Inspiration and taking some energy regenerating skills but I don't know if it's worth it.
Second I'm not even sure I should have blackout if I plan on using 1-4 stacked on the target, I guess it could be a fallback if there is say another caster just dealing too much damage and we need to recooperate for a second but it just seems like a waste to hace blackout in there.
My goal with this build is to make a shutdown for GvG and Tombs. I want the best lineup of skills and stats to make this happen, I would really appreciate any ideas or changes you have to share with this build to make it the best I can get.
Thank you everyone for your help.

Backfire >> Backfire
Soul Leech [e] >> Soul Leech [e]
Mark of Subversion >> Arcane Theivery/Diversion
Empathy >> Resurrection Signet
Blackout >> Mind Wrack
Energy Tap >> Drain Enchantment
Ether Lord >> Inspired Hex
Energy Burn >> Energy Burn
Soul Leech/Backfire is fun, but your energy management isnt as strong as it could be. Mind Wrack over the hexes so as to make it harder to remove them.
Theivery/Diversion/Burn can be used on the non-hexed target to shutdown multiple people, and you dont have a res sig, which is always nice
Spreading 4 attributes for this kind of build isnt optimal, so just live with it

Does the >> mean switch to that spell?
I don't know too much about mesmers but I was checking that out in GWFreaks and it doesn't seem too good...
:/
If you know a way to build this without 4 attributes then tell me...
Haha wtf.

If you want a good pvp shutdown mes go with mind wrack/eburn/esurge/sig of weriness/mantra of inscriptions/powerleak/power drain/res sig
Or you can go with migraine shutdown with interrupts
The hardest build but most effective IMO is powerblock
ME/n isnt very good imo but good luck on something new

....... yeah, >> means switch
Mind wrack isnt meant to be good. Its a 20s hex thats cheap and has a low recharge. If you put soul leech/backfire over a target, then if all they need is one hex removal to get rid of it then frankly inspired >> you just wasted an elite/15e. Mind wrack at least makes it more than a 1s cast to own your strategy in the face. Whatsmore, what does your original build do against hex breaker? Atm, it cries. Use mind wrack, or sub in wastels worry to pierce through.
And drain enchantment and inspired hex are pretty good actually. both deliver just under 1 pip of energy extra, which is pretty dam good. And tbh, its more than lord/tap. Whatsmore, stealing about 4 energy or 9 over 10 seconds isnt as good as a hex/enchant removed. Consider how much that enchant/hex cost to inflict, and thats how much you effectively wasted of theirs. Most common drainable enchants are around 10, and hexes range from 5-15 mostly.
You're a hexer, fast casting is a bonus. Your spells have long duration, and there is no amazing hurry to get them on as fast as possible. Higher attributes is more worth it than casting a bit quicker. If your scared of interrupters, then fast casting still wont make a difference, since the casting times are merely going from above average length > average. The only way to challenge an interrupter is to get less then 1s casting times, at least. Even with 16fs you couldnt do that for e.g. backfire, which is a staple skill in this set up.
And as evanc said, this isnt that great a shutdown.

There's many different ways you can build a me/n hurt peeps...
I'd personally go for a bunch of anti-caster stuff with a few anti-fighter defensive measure thrown in.
Lots of interrupts seem to be a lot more dangerous than using hexes in what I've fought but perhaps a Soul Barbs hex pileup build can work. With hexes like parasitic bond, Wastrel's Worry, Mind Wrack, Ether Lord, you can deal a burst of damage in a hurry, but nothing game - ending unfortunately.
I think a Soul Barbs build might work better on a necro primary going 16 curses...
But as far as skill bar goes, depending on the size of the arena, I bring in either a Price/Spirit of Failure combo or Faintheartedness / Shadow of Fear. Enfeeble at 5e. is good to reduce damage by a LOT if comboed properly.
E. Managers are plenty but from what's been calculated, at 10 blood magic or so, Offering of Blood {E} is the current king of energy management...
I miss when E. Drain was worth something...
